All Out War: Assassins in the house of god

18/07/07  ||  Euthanatos

Apparently these guys have been around since the early nineties. Too bad I’ve never heard of them before this album. Scratch that, thank God I hadn’t heard of them until now, because this band is just not good.

Something that has been pissing me off recently is how every band with a little aggression in their sound gets labeled as “thrash metal”. Excuse me, Slayer is fucking thrash metal, not All Out War. These guys are somewhere between NY hardcore and metalcore and they’re not even doing it right.

True, there’s a good riff here and there. Everyone in the band seems to play their instruments properly, at least as far as Pro-Tools let’s us know. The vocals are boring, generic as fuck. There’s an inspired moment here and there, like on the title-track, some nice Slayer references, which are always appreciated, but God damn it, what a boring piece of crap.

Seriously, being aggressive isn’t all it takes to be interesting in metal. If that were the case, we’d all love every shitty grindnoisecrustcore band that would surface, and that is certainly not the case.

In short; All Out War have some of the right tools of the trade, but creatively they don’t bring shit to the table. I’ll pass. So should you.

The Cover: Some kind of mass being given by a demonic-skull-priest. Not bad, a little bit too CG for me.

4 punk metalcore crap out of 10.
